Abstract
It is well known that, for full utilization of squeezing, low losses are required in the generation, application, and detection apparatus, thus limiting its usefulness. One unexplored area is its use in signal recovery in the form of an amplifier: one that not only amplifies the input signal but also increases the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Here we show that when a nondegenerate optical parametric amplifier (OPA) is operated in the saturated gain regime, the SNR improves and the output intensity becomes squeezed.
