Abstract

There has been an increase of interest recently in understanding how multiple Stokes orders are generated. This interest is mainly practical and stems from the desire either to limit competing Stokes processes or enhance those processes. Even the generation of second Stokes is not well understood for many real laser systems as is evidenced by the report of anomalous second Stokes thresholds.1 Focusing geometries compound the problem of understanding multiple Stokes generation.
