Vibrational predissociation and level mixing in HN3(1A′)

Abstract

We have initiated the unimolecular reaction– by exciting the molecule to particular rotation- vibration levels in the ground electronic state. Excitation with a visible dye laser at 661 or 565 nm populates overtone levels of the NH stretch, vNH = 5 or 6, by direct overtone pumping. Nascent NH fragments are detected by laser-induced fluorescence (LIF).
