Abstract

Work on the transport properties of double barrier resonant tunneling (DBRT) structures has advanced to the point where pure electrical measurements are no longer sufficient to yield the detailed information required to test theoretical models, More sophisticated techniques, such as magnetotransport,1 have already provided valuable information concerning charge buildup in the emitter region and the role of phonon scattering. Optical spectroscopy2 is another powerful experimental probe of perpendicular transport in DBRT structures, as will be demonstrated.
