Spectrally Efficient Mixed Line Rate Optical WDM Network with Increased Transmission Reach

Abstract

A technique to improve transmission reach without much loss in spectral efficiency in MLR WDM has been proposed. This has been achieved by varying the number of channels in each sub-band. Results prove that sub-band placement plays an important role in deciding the transmission reach.
