Abstract

The key goal of this paper consists of an experimental analysis of a photonic microwave up-converter based on four wave mixing (FWM) in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) using single laser source and dual drive LiNbO3 Mach Zehnder Modulator. Simplified formulas are adopted, relating the mixing conversion gain to the modelling parameters of the SOA. Low noise levels in the electrical spectrum indicates the efficiency of the up-converter having high SNR.
