Enhanced Slow Wave through Dispersive Metamaterial Loaded Helical Guide: Analytical Study and Design

Abstract

A slow light waveguide, metamaterial loaded helical guide (MLHG) made up of dispersive metamaterial medium is proposed and studied. Modal analysis of guide reveals that it supports super slow wave as well as backward wave mode characteristics. To realize this structure a design and simulation study has been carried out using CST Microwave Studio.
