Free-carrier-induced loss and temporal Modulation Instability (MI) in SOI waveguides at low powers

Abstract

The influence of free-carrier-induced loss and dispersion on MI gain spectrum at low input powers in a silicon-on-insulator waveguide is studied numerically. It is shown that, these effects lead to observable reduction in MI gain spectrum.
