Abstract

We propose a novel computational method for image recovery in digital holography, which does not mimic the physical hologram reconstruction process. The reconstruction of the complex object field in the hologram plane is modeled as a constrained optimization problem with a smoothness constraint on the complex object function. The illustrative simulations suggest single shot image recovery without the need of removing the dc terms and with relaxation of the minimum reference beam angle condition that is usually required for twin image separation.
