Selective suppression of the fundamental mode in a dual-mode photonic crystal fiber

Abstract

The fundamental mode of a dual-mode photonic crystal fiber is suppressed selectively with the help of a long period grating. The system has been theoretically modeled and numerically computed with a finite-element solver. The suppression amount of 36dB is significant compared to reported results.
