Hot Carrier Solar Cells: Materials with Modulated Phonon Energy for Slowed Carrier Cooling

Abstract

The Hot Carrier solar cell reduces carrier thermalisation loss. It relies on slowing the rate of carrier cooling in the absorber from ps to ns. This is addressed through nanostructures and modulation of phonon dispersions.
