Experimental broadband absorption enhancement in silicon nanohole structures with optimized complex unit cells

Abstract

We design silicon membranes with nanohole structures with optimized complex unit cells that maximize broadband absorption. We fabricate the optimized design and measure an experimental broadband absorption 3.5 times higher than an equally-thick thin film.
