Abstract

Gold surfaces with periodic arrays of ultra-sharp grooves fabricated by FIB-milling turn black due to coupling of incident light into gap-Surface-Plasmon-Polariton waves that experience adiabatic nanofocusing and efficient absorption in the grooves.
