All-Optical Flip-Flop-Based Square-Wave Clock

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate the generation and phase control of a square-wave optical clock signal emitted from a semiconductor-optical-amplifier-based all-optical flip-flop. All electrically driven components require only dc current, and phase control is performed optically.
