Permanent modification of material parameters in LiNbO3 crystals by irradiation with low-mass, high-energy ions

Abstract

LiNbO3 is irradiated with low-mass, high-energy ions which cause strong modulations of the refractive index Δn and coercive field EC. This effect and it’s long-term stability is investigated; the application for permanent gratings is outlined.
