Abstract

Glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4) is a key regulator of systemic glucose homeostasis. We recently showed that GLUT4 translocation is regulated by actin remodeling triggered by insulin signaling. Here we present that AMPK-mediated phosphorylation of an actin-capping protein is required for GLUT4 exocytosis and glucose uptake in muscle cells.
