Abstract

We investigate fast polarization independent switches and electric field sensors based on thermally-fixed gratings in photorefractive LiNbO3:Ti:Cu channel waveguides for the infrared wavelength region around λ = 1550 nm. We report on our research of slanted gratings for a mode converting element in a bi-modal waveguide section for applications like optical add/drop multiplexers (OADM).
