Modeling of critical enhancement of photorefractive response in cubic crystals

Abstract

We develop the idea of critical enhancement of the photorefractive response near the threshold of subharmonic generation (reported in Phys. Rev. Lett. 85, 1867, 2000) taking into account the real attributes of beam coupling in cubic crystals of the sillenite family. These are the vectorial character of beam coupling and a fairly strong longitudinal inhomogeneity of the pump intensity caused by light absorption. The results of our calculations are in optimization of the experimental conditions for detection of the critical enhancement and in description of its expected distinctive features.
