Abstract

Main factors which prevent the implementation of heterodyne technique advantages are low dynamic range and low quantum efficiency of photomultiplyers. We describe an integrated high-sensitive photodiode system which is ideal for analog detecting of dynamic light scattering signal. Characteristics of detector are considered in comparison with those of photo-multiplyer when measuring test polystyrene latex mixtures. Eecent applications of such photo-diodes for particle size distribution and electrophoretic mobility analysis using heterodyne DLS instruments are discussed.
