Design limitations in terahertz quantum cascade lasers caused by thermally activated absorption features

Abstract

We present loss characteristics of a terahertz quantum cascade laser based on the bound-to-continuum design. By coupling broadband THz pulses into the laser’s waveguide structure the spectrum of thermally activated absorption features is measured.
