Abstract

Unstable interaction of streaming electron plasma waves with phonon lattice waves may lead to THz excitation in high mobility nanowires. The coupled plasmon-phonon-polariton dispersion yields the instability growth rate and bias threshold. High gain convective amplification may allow lasing.
