Abstract

Unstable interaction of streaming electron plasma waves with acoustic lattice waves may lead to THz excitation in high mobility semiconductors. The coupled plasmon-phonon dispersion yields the instability growth rate and bias threshold. Convective amplification occurs in transit, promising high gain.
