Abstract

A focused laser beam-produced optical bottle transiently traps suspended nanoparticles while 3-D fluorescence maps the confined nanoparticle distribution. The mechanical balance of the compressive laser and repulsive osmotic pressures decouples the particle-light and particle-particle interactions.
