Laser Trapping in Air by Photophoretic Forces

Abstract

We report on optical trapping of agglomerates of carbon nanoparticles in air. Stable positioning and guiding of nanoparticles is achieved by photophoretic forces in an optical trap created by two counter-propagating and co-rotating optical vortices.
