Abstract
Highly capable airborne optical imaging systems have been developed recently for obtaining high-resolution and spectral data on potential targets, to provide high area-coverage rates and automated detections of specific signatures. These capabilities are necessary, but alone are not sufficient, for a challengee such as IED detection. NRL and others have been developing real-time high-bandwidth wrieless communications and techniques for fusion of optical products with non-optical data in net-centric architectures.
