Abstract
Nano-scale dielectric resonator antennas (DRAs) have shown potential for various optical applications. In this paper, the use of DRAs to couple free-space waves to surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) is discussed. As an example, a design of DRA-based perfect absorber is proposed and demonstrated through simulation. The predicted absorption of > 99.9% of the incident power confirms the DRAs as a building block for efficient SPP couplers and promises applications in integrated optics and field enhancement.
