Non-local thermodynamic kinetic temperature retrieval from measurements of CO2 15 µm earth limb emission

Abstract

We present the first retrieval algorithm of kinetic temperature from measurements of CO2 15 µm non-LTE emissions. Non-LTE radiative transfer is rigorously modeled. The algorithm is accurate and computationally fast, suitable for operational processing of satellite data.
