Retro–reflector with bale–shaped holes removes the moiré fringes on the aerial light–field image formed in front of you

Abstract

The optical system to form an aerial light-field image with AIRR (aerial imaging by retro-reflection), we previously proposed, caused moiré fringes. This paper analyzes the origin of the moiré fringes and proposes a solution. To remove the moiré fringes, we propose a new hole pattern of retro-reflector. Moiré fringes on the aerial image was successfully removed by placing the bale-shaped holes on the lens array.
