Abstract

We propose a novel Hybrid Fiber metallic Pair (HFP) access system for use with the metallic passive double star (PDS) system. This system is designed for various signal formats and is easily upgradeable. We demonstrate the transmission of an NRZ signal with a 150 m metallic pair cable. The information rate was 5 Mbit/s for upward data and 12.5 Mbit/s for downward data.
