Abstract

Nanometer-scale, polycrystalline Al and Mg layers intermix spontaneously to form a partially amorphous Al-Mg coating. These Al-Mg films were developed as corrosion barriers for Mg/SiC multilayer interference coatings operating in the 25-80 nm wavelength region.
