Abstract

Recent advances in the manufacture of synthetic diamond have allowed the fabrication of windows that can be made to a variety of sizes and geometries. An anti-reflection coating capable of withstanding high temperatures, was developed for diamond windows. Furthermore the coating doubles as a protective layer, preventing oxidation of the diamond in extreme environments. Films were deposited by magnetron sputtering. High temperature baking, thermal shock, and erosion tests were performed to evaluate the performance and durability of the coating.
