Review of solar control coatings

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Various types of solar control coatings are produced for aerospace, automotive, and architectural applications. These multispectral coatings found their origin in the desire to manipulate sources of radiation which lie in widely separated wavelength regions. Active and passive thin film systems have been developed to meet system applications. Designs, materials, and processes will be reviewed in this paper. New applications of these coatings for display systems will also be discussed.
