Asymmetrical dual-cavity filters: Theory and Application

Abstract

We use Smith’s concept of effective interfaces to study the properties of asymmetrical dual-cavity filters with two transmission peaks. We show that their peaks intensities and positions are very sensitive to small changes in thickness ratio of their low- and high-index materials, and that this property can be used to simultaneously monitor the uniformity of two different materials.
