Abstract

This paper describes a novel method of stabilizing (Ga,Al)As injection lasers using purely electronic circuitry. This method uses an electrical circuit that monitors the laser voltage and current, and automatically adjusts the laser bias so that the laser operates above threshold when the laser current is modulated by an ac signal. The circuit adjusts the laser current to compensate for the drift of the laser threshold caused by changes in laser temperature and laser aging.
