Abstract

A multi-fiber splicing technigue developed by Bell Laboratories, Atlanta is presently being used in the Atlanta fiberguide experiment. This optical fiber connector consists of two properly prepared cable terminations butted end to end. The cable termination is a laminate sandwich of alignment chips with grooves on both top and bottom surfaces interleaved with optical fibers epoxied to form a stacked array.
