Frequency Domain Measurements Of Dispersion As A Function Of Wavelength In Multimode Optical Fibers

Abstract

Most previous studies of fiber dispersion have analyzed the fiber response to short laser pulses. The frequency domain method described here allows accurate transmission measurements to be made in spectrally filtered incoherent light suitable for wavelength dependent studies of profile dispersion(2) over a wide range of wavelengths without resorting to a multitude of monochromatic mode-locked laser sources.
