Design and Ultraprecision Diamond Machining of Beam Shaping Components for High-Power CO2 Lasers in Additive Manufacturing Applications

Abstract

We present the design of refractive beam shaping optics for transforming a circular Gaussian beam into a top hat beam for an additive manufacturing process. The designed components are prototyped in zinc sulfide using single-point diamond turning.
