Mechanics of Full Aperture Polishing Tools for Aspheres

Abstract

We discuss issues related to mechanical design optimization of full aperture polishing tools. We propose an approximate optimization of the tool/work contact pressure for given work surface profile (or error to be removed) by controlling the applied pressure on the tool.
