Corrective surface aspherizing to optimize scan lens distortion

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Scan lenses are commonly designed with spherical surfaces. Design distortion errors are below diffraction-limited spot size. Yet, manufactured surface irregularities significantly degrade distortion performance. A method is described for custom surface figuring to compensate for cumulative irregularities. Experimental results that demonstrate distortion re-optimization are presented.
