Abstract
The technology of precision molding permits ready-to-use optical elements to be manufactured, without the need for expensive and time-consuming finishing operations. However, the familiar problem of the hot glass adhering and sticking to the molds is particularly noticeable due to the prolonged process time. To date, the dominant mechanisms which cause this stickiness, have not been clearly identified. The selection of appropriate mold materials, however, permits chemical influences in particular, to be virtually eliminated.
