Statistical Analysis of SNR in Chirped-pulse ΦOTDR

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The statistical properties of SNR are analyzed for chirped-pulse (CP-)OOTDR and compared with traditional OOTDR using coherent-detection. CP-OOTDR is showed to have drastically narrower (lower variance) SNR distribution, thus providing higher reliability measurements.
