High Temperature Fiber Bragg Gratings for Spacecraft Application

Abstract

Spacecraft require sensors operating over extreme temperature ranges. Silica Fiber Bragg grating sensors can have application from cryogenic temperatures to between 1000 and 1200 °C dependent on operation time. Thermal protection systems provide application examples.
