Abstract

We report highly versatile gas sensors using polymer film coated optical micro/nanofibers (MNFs). Based on the evanescent wave absorption of the doped acid-base indicator, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) microflow cell encapsulated MNFs are used for humidity and NH3 sensing with fast response, high sensitivity and large dynamic range. The compact and flexible sensing scheme shown here may be attractive for fast detection in physical, chemical, and medical applications with high sensitivity and small footprint.
