Improved Optical Power Budget in Distributed Acoustic Sensing Using Enhanced Scattering Optical Fibre

Abstract

We demonstrate a significant increase in the optical power budget of distributed acoustic sensing using enhanced scattering optical fibre. Signal to noise ratio is increased by around 16 dB at both 1 km and 41 km range and sensitivity by more than 30 dB at 41 km.
