Fiber-Optic Magnetic Field Sensor based on Magnetization Rotation in Garnet Crystal

Abstract

A simple fiber-optic magnetic field sensor using a novel sensing principle and its application to a wheel rotation sensor and a linear position sensor are described. The sensing principle is based on a Faraday rotation change due to a magnetization rotation of a garnet Faraday effect element.
