TWO METHODS TO COMPENSATE THERMAL EFFECTS IN A POLARIMETRIC STATIC PRESSURE SENSOR

Abstract

Among the different types of OFS a lot of them are sensitive to more than one parameter. The sensor described in this communication is devoted to the measurement of static pressure into hollow cylinders. It is a polarimetric sensor based on the bending induced-birefringence in a single mode fiber wrapped around the cylinder. We have shown [1] that the temperature sensitivity is a limiting factor in that case. In this paper we described two methods for thermal effects compensation based on a differential measurement between two birefringent fiber coils.
