EXTENSION OF THE UNAMBIGUOUS ROTATION SENSING RANGE OF THE FIBER GYROSCOPE USING DUAL WAVELENGTH DETERMINATION OF THE SAGNAC SHIFT

Abstract

A method for extending the unambiguous rotation sensing range, and thus dynamic range of the fiber gyroscope is described which is based on the measurement of the Sagnac shift at two wavelengths. Results obtained using an all-fiber gyro and sources at wavelengths of 812 and 842 nm are presented.
