Abstract
Fiberscopes make it possible to monitor objects in hazardous environments such as high temperatures and corrosive fluid atmospheres. The number of picture elements in image fibers employed in conventional fiberscopes are, however, only as many as several ten thousands and the resolution of the transmitted images is poor compared with that of conventional ITV systems. Some practical applications require higher resolution without any reduction in the flexibility of the image fiber.
