Abstract
Polarization maintaining optical fibers (PMFs) have many applications from a coherent transmission line to a sensor. Especially, an all-fiber gyroscope is one of attractive applications of PMFs./1/ It is required that an all-fiber gyroscope should be small in size and light in weight. A PMF with a small diameter is a key to getting a great number of turns of fiber coil in a given limited space. However, when the fiber is coiled in a smaller volume, a problem is that the figure of crosstalk, optical loss, and reliability in static fatigue become worse.
