Abstract

McDonnell Douglas Astronautics Company (MDAC) is now delivering fiber-optic rotation sensors to several commercial and military customers for laboratory and field testing. During the past year a series of improvements were made in the design, packaging and environmental hardening of fiber-optic rotation sensors. MDAC anticipates delivering 35 units in 1985 followed by manufacturing at 25 units per month. These sensors are being supplied for use in diverse applications ranging from guidance systems in tactical weapons to aircraft avionics and gyrocompassing.
